Welcome to STIL, founders of Independent Living in Sweden

STIL is short for The Founders of Independent Living in Sweden.

STIL is an organization by people with disabilities. STIL has existed since 1984. We were the first in Sweden to offer personal assistance.
We know what personal assistance is. We were the ones behind LSS, the law that guarantees us social support. Many other assistance coordinators say you can decide for yourself. But they view assistance as a matter of health or social care. They listen to politicians and media that call us weak. Since 1984, we at STIL have never changed our way of looking at assistance. You need to have control over your life. STIL is a cooperative without profit. Everyone on our board have personal assistance. Many who work at our office have personal assistance.
It is easy to have your assistance in STIL.

I STIL är du arbetsledare för dina personliga assistenter. Du bestämmer vad assistenterna ska göra, vem som ska jobba, när, var och hur. Du är experten i ditt liv.

Vi har verktygen

Vi tror att alla kan bestämma över sin assistans. Du kan ha en medarbetsledare, du får stöd från kontoret och vi har tagit fram verktyget självbestämmandekompassen. Dessutom kan du när som helst få reda på hur ekonomin i din assistans ser ut.

STIL var först i Sverige

STIL bildades 1984. Vi visade tidigt att personlig assistans ger bättre kvalitet till mindre kostnader än andra serviceformer. Det banade väg för rättighetslagen LSS. Därför tar vi ansvar för hur den personliga assistansen utvecklas.

En del av en medborgarrättsrörelse

Vi har makten i våra liv och vi företräder oss själva. Personlig assistans är vägen dit. STIL är en del av Independent Livingrörelsen som startade i USA på 1960-talet.

Vi äger STIL tillsammans

STIL är ett kooperativ där du blir medlem. Det finns inga aktieägare som tar ut vinst. Vi hjälper varandra att göra assistansen bättre och vi påverkar politiker.
